How to help us render IEC-CIM in your (native) language
Ontologies are fantastic ways to standardize data definitions. They help us structure the knowledge we have in to a format that can be verified (through peer review or inferencing) and be reused. However most people do not speak english as their first (or even second) language and sharing knowledge happens mostly through language. Especially at utilities, which are often regional organizations, where domain experts do not always master the English language enough to understand a model like the IEC-CIM, it is important to make this knowledge model available to them in a language that they understand.

Introduction The ontology viewer is a web-based tool for viewing ontologies expressed in the Web Ontology Language. Currently, we only have a publication of the IEC-CIM (which can be found here), but we hope to change this soon and publish more ontologies. If you have a suggestion for an ontology that you’d like to see published in our web interface, please leave us a message.

The IEC-CIM Ontology viewer can be found here. For information on how to use the ontology viewer, make sure to check the documentation.
The model OWL ontology underlying the publication can be found on github.
Meta-model The IEC-CIM model is modelled in UML. For the purpose of interoperability with other standards, the model is transformed to the Web Ontology Language. A simplified overview of the mapping rules can be found in the table here.
